Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Your questions answered.

If you have any questions about our occasional chairs please do not hesitate to ask us. But firstly please browse our Q&A below, since these hopefully address the majority of questions.

Can I have a fabric sample?

Yes, we'll happily send you free fabric samples from the fabrics in our Designer's Choice. Please try to narrow your choice down to a maximum of 6 designs so that they are easy to post to you. To request your sample please complete our contact form and remember to include your full name and postal address.

Can I change the legs on my chair?

You can certainly change the colour of the legs. Our standard legs are as illustrated for each chair.

You can also, if you wish, change the style of leg. We don’t encourage you to do this, since it may change the height and thus the look and comfort of the sofa. However it is straightforward to change between brass and chrome castors.

How do I select a fabric?

We have thousands of fabrics suitable for upholstery so we always suggest that you talk to us first . We are here to offer impartial advice on style, function and performance. Here is a quick summary of fabric materials you might consider for your upholstered chair.

How do I order an occasional chair with bespoke fabric?

We can cover any of our chairs in any one of several thousand suitable fabrics that we have on display in our showroom. If you have seen a fabric you like we can usually supply it or source it. We are always happy to produce a chair in bespoke fabric. However you will need to discuss your requirements over the phone or via e-mail because we will send you a quote for the job.

If you are planning to coordinate the fabric on your furniture with other furnishings (e.g curtains) please make sure we know about that. The only way to ensure colour matching is make sure that all the fabric is from the same production batch.

Also see custom fabrics.

Can you do bespoke sizes?

We’ll do everything possible, but please understand that we very often we have to say no to these requests. Some chairs are more suitable for changes to height or width. All bespoke changes add to the cost and delivery time – please call or drop in to chat it over.

Can I use my own fabric?

You certainly can use fabric you already have, but subject to certain provisos; your fabric must be suitable for furnishing and must not compromise the fire rating of the chair. You will need to contact us via the contact form or give us a call on 01904 481101.

What happens if I don’t like my chair when it arrives?

Send it back - please see our "No Quibble Returns Policy".

Can I guarantee that my chair will be an exact colour match to my fabric sample?

This cannot be guaranteed without a stock cutting. Most of our fabrics are natural materials and therefore there will be variations from one production batch to another. Usually differences are slight but it is possible that the swatch that we send out might come from a different batch to that which is used in production. To be honest, the variations are normally very slight indeed. However if you order two or more chairs at the same time, in the same fabric, we will ensure that they will be made from the same fabric batch, and thus will match. Ordering an extra chair, at a later date to match an existing chair, can cause problems.

Do you have a brochure?

Sorry, no. We hope that this website will provide you all the information you need. But if it doesn’t we are always at the end of the phone to help.

Is there parking at the showroom?

Yes, there is plenty of free on-street parking outside. And you will always be welcome at our chair showroom.

Do you deliver outside of the UK?

We are not set up to ship chairs outside the UK as the cost of shipping a single chair can be prohibitive. But if you are OK with the extra costs involved or are interested in shipping multiple chairs then we will work with you to arrange shipping. Please be aware that our "No Quibble Returns Policy" only applies to UK mainland deliveries.

How do I care for my new chair?

It is always a good idea to look after your new occasional chair and to ensure that it regularly cleaned. See our Chair Care Guide for more detail.
